The Yahya Group, based in Marrakech, is a luxury design house founded by the self-taught designer and artist Yahya,

whose personal vision has redefined the relationship between traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and contemporary global design. Guided by a deep fascination with light and form, the Group has established a reputation for a refined luxury that is discreet and timeless, creating collections and bespoke works characterised by subtlety, sophistication and a technical mastery, which fuse artisanal savoir-faire with modern elegance.

Entirely handmade, the work is difficult to classify blurring the boundaries between art and design.

From intricate accessories to monumental, site-specific installations and sculptures, each creation reflects an obsessive attention to detail and meticulous craftsmanship. Spaces are transformed into poetic experiences of light, shadow and texture.

Light occupies a central role in this artistic language.

Treated as a material in its own right, illumination is sculpted, concealed and revealed to create immersive environments where shadows become architectural elements. By adapting jewellery-scale techniques to artworks and design pieces, a distinct and individual style has emerged, one that transcends classification and blends Moroccan heritage with Asian, Oriental and various other contemporary global influences.

A fusion of cultures, nationalities and religions,

Yahya was born in London in 1972 to a multicultural family. A former martial arts instructor and events organiser, with no formal artistic training and having been expelled from art class at school, he discovered the ancient art of metalworking during a formative journey to Morocco, revealing an unexpected and unknown, hidden artistic side to his nature.

Yahya relocated from London to Marrakech to establish a small atelier.

In 2005, without fanfare, publicity or even a sign on the door, discreetly designed and opened his first gallery to the public, to showcase his collections of lighting, furniture, accessories, decorative pieces, architectural elements and artworks. Within six weeks, the entire collection sold out through word of mouth alone, and clients began travelling from around the world to commission bespoke works for private and public projects.

supported by engineers, draughtsmen and designers, the artisans work entirely in-house to bring the artist`s ambitious creations to life with precision, innovation and technical rigour. Dedicated installation teams travel internationally to ensure each project is realised flawlessly, whether in a palace, private residence, luxury hotel or megayacht.

Yahya’s work has been exhibited internationally and featured in major cultural institutions,

notably through Invisible Light, created in collaboration with Mehdi Qotbi and first shown in 2013 at the Zaha Hadid Pavilion of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, before its subsequent presentation at the Royal Mansour in Marrakech in 2014; the collection comprised a series of monumental artworks and sculptures that reinterpreted the movement and spirit of Islamic calligraphy through contemporary sculpture, transforming it into a syncretic, imaginary language of form, light, and rhythm.

By fusing heritage techniques with contemporary and cross-cultural influences,

the Yahya Group continues to create works that transcend trends, traditions and geographic boundaries. More than a design house, it represents a world where art, design and architecture converge, defined by restraint, a refined sophistication and an enduring commitment to craftsmanship.
