The Moorish Pendant is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional lanterns that once illuminated the palaces, courtyards, and architectural spaces of the Moorish world. Reimagined through Yahya's signature hand-sawn and hand-engraved floral metalwork, the pendant transforms a historic form into a refined sculptural lighting piece defined by geometry, craftsmanship, and atmosphere. Unlike the rounded forms of the Andalus Pendant, the composition is formed around a faceted architectural body composed of multiple pyramid-shaped sections that create a more angular and structured silhouette. Crowned above and below by elegant tapered elements, the entire piece is handcrafted in metal and illuminated from within to project intricate patterns of light and shadow across surrounding walls and ceilings. Timeless, elegant, and richly atmospheric, the Moorish Pendant celebrates the enduring beauty of traditional Moorish design through the language of contemporary craftsmanship.

The pendant is suspended from a structural ceiling fixation plate concealed behind a decorative ceiling canopy. The electrical connections, transformers, and drivers are housed within the upper structure, allowing convenient access for maintenance whilst remaining completely hidden from view.
The composition incorporates a faceted architectural body formed from multiple hand-sawn and hand-engraved pyramid-shaped panels arranged around a central structure and framed by decorative upper and lower sections. Unlike the rounded geometry of the Andalus Pendant, the faceted construction creates a sharper and more architectural profile whilst preserving the richness of the handcrafted floral metalwork. A concealed diffuser system integrated within the central body softens the illumination and prevents direct visibility of the light sources whilst enhancing the decorative detailing.
The lighting system incorporates three independent light sources. The first illuminates the upper section, projecting decorative floral patterns onto ceilings and surrounding architectural surfaces. The second illuminates the central body through the concealed diffuser system, creating a balanced and comfortable ambient glow. The third illuminates the lower section, creating additional decorative projection and reinforcing the sculptural presence of the pendant. The Moorish Pendant is available in multiple standard sizes, with bespoke dimensions available upon request. Exterior versions may also be specified with IP67-rated electrical components and specialist UV-resistant protective coating systems where required.
Moorish Pen
The brass with aged bronze finish or polished nickel silver surfaces should be lightly dusted using a soft dry cloth or microfibre cloth. Abrasive products, aggressive cleaning materials, and excessive moisture should be avoided in order to preserve the integrity of the finish.
The concealed diffuser elements should be cleaned periodically using a soft lint-free cloth and a suitable non-abrasive cleaner appropriate to the diffuser material. Care should be taken not to apply excessive pressure to the decorative metalwork during cleaning or maintenance operations.
Our brass pieces are hand-finished, aged to a rich bronze patination, and protected with a durable lacquer system. Interior versions utilise a specialist interior lacquer, whilst exterior versions receive a UV-resistant protective coating developed specifically for outdoor environments. Polished nickel silver may be maintained using a quality silver polish or traditional lemon-based cleaning methods where required. Subtle variations and traces of hand craftsmanship form an intentional part of the character and authenticity of each piece.
