The Sophia Pendant is a highly architectural lighting design that celebrates structure, proportion, and material rather than decorative ornamentation. Defined by a large concave frosted glass disc suspended beneath a refined structural framework, the composition combines visual lightness with a strong architectural presence. Four elegant metal arms rise from the perimeter of the glass disc and converge towards the ceiling canopy, creating a graceful skeletal structure that becomes an integral part of the design. A small hand-sawn and hand-engraved decorative element positioned beneath the glass conceals the primary uplight and provides a subtle reference to Yahya's heritage of craftsmanship. The softly illuminated frosted glass creates a calm and balanced glow whilst concealed lighting above enhances the architectural composition and softly illuminates the surrounding ceiling. Elegant, contemporary, and highly refined, the Sophia Pendant represents one of the most minimalist and architectural expressions within the Yahya lighting collection.

The pendant is suspended from a structural ceiling fixation plate concealed within a decorative ceiling canopy. The electrical connections, transformers, and drivers are housed within the upper structure, allowing convenient access for maintenance whilst remaining completely hidden from view.
The composition incorporates a large concave frosted glass disc supported by four elegantly curved structural arms that connect the glass element to the upper ceiling structure. A decorative hand-sawn and hand-engraved element positioned beneath the glass conceals the primary uplight and provides a subtle handcrafted focal point within the otherwise architectural composition. A peripheral crisscross metal band encircles the glass element, adding depth, structure, and visual refinement.
The lighting system incorporates two independent light sources. The first illuminates the frosted glass disc from below through the concealed decorative element, creating a soft and balanced ambient glow. The second illuminates the ceiling above, providing indirect architectural lighting that enhances the surrounding space without projecting decorative patterns. The Sophia Pendant is available in multiple standard sizes, with bespoke dimensions available upon request. Exterior versions may also be specified with IP67-rated electrical components and specialist UV-resistant protective coating systems where required.
The brass with aged bronze finish or polished nickel silver surfaces should be lightly dusted using a soft dry cloth or microfibre cloth. Abrasive products, aggressive cleaning materials, and excessive moisture should be avoided in order to preserve the integrity of the finish.
The frosted glass disc should be cleaned periodically using a soft lint-free cloth and a suitable non-abrasive glass cleaner. Care should be taken to avoid contact between aggressive cleaning products and adjacent metal finishes. Abrasive pads, polishing compounds, or products that may alter the frosted surface should never be used on the glass.
Our brass pieces are hand-finished, aged to a rich bronze patination, and protected with a durable lacquer system. Interior versions utilise a specialist interior lacquer, whilst exterior versions receive a UV-resistant protective coating developed specifically for outdoor environments. Polished nickel silver may be maintained using a quality silver polish or traditional lemon-based cleaning methods where required. Subtle variations and traces of hand craftsmanship form an intentional part of the character and authenticity of each piece.
