Chandelier - Cascading Amphoras
Ref: L-CD-017-HSL
The Cascading Amphoras were originally conceived as a monumental architectural lighting installation for the entrance hall of the Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa in Morocco. Given complete creative freedom, Yahya developed a sculptural composition of fourteen suspended amphora-shaped lanterns arranged in two symmetrical groups that flank the entrance space, creating a dramatic architectural experience defined by scale, light, and repetition.
Each amphora is composed of a refined conical crown that transitions into a faceted elongated body before tapering towards a softly rounded lower section. Suspended individually and illuminated from within, the pieces project Yahya's signature Liquid Light patterns across surrounding walls and architectural surfaces whilst maintaining a striking sculptural presence. Produced in two monumental sizes, approximately 1.80 metres and 2.30 metres in height, the installation transforms the surrounding architecture into an immersive environment of light and shadow. Contemporary, elegant, and highly architectural, the Cascading Amphoras represent the fusion of sculpture, craftsmanship, and light on an architectural scale.

The Cascading Amphoras are suspended from structural ceiling fixation systems concealed within the architectural ceiling structure. Electrical connections, transformers, and drivers are housed remotely or within dedicated service areas depending on project requirements, allowing convenient access for maintenance whilst remaining completely hidden from view.
Each amphora incorporates a conical upper section transitioning into a faceted elongated body fabricated in precision-crafted metalwork. The body incorporates Yahya's signature Liquid Light perforated detailing, creating a balance between architectural simplicity and decorative illumination. Each piece is suspended independently and may be manufactured in a variety of dimensions according to project requirements.
The lighting system incorporates integrated uplighting and downlighting elements positioned within the upper and lower sections of each amphora. The illumination reveals the Liquid Light perforations whilst projecting intricate patterns across surrounding walls, floors, and architectural surfaces. Originally produced in two sizes of approximately 1.80 metres and 2.30 metres in height, the design may be adapted in scale, proportion, finish, and configuration to suit the specific requirements of a project. The Cascading Amphoras are available as individual pieces or as part of larger architectural lighting installations.
The metal surfaces should be lightly dusted using a soft dry cloth or microfibre cloth. Abrasive products, aggressive cleaning materials, and excessive moisture should be avoided in order to preserve the integrity of the finish and decorative perforations.
The Liquid Light perforations should be inspected periodically and gently cleaned using a soft brush, compressed air, or a microfibre cloth to prevent dust accumulation within the decorative openings. Due to the height and suspended nature of the installation, maintenance should be carried out by qualified personnel using appropriate access equipment.
Our brass, nickel silver, stainless steel, and specialist architectural metal finishes are protected using finishing systems appropriate to each material and project environment. Exterior versions may be specified with UV-resistant protective coatings and IP67-rated electrical systems where required. All electrical servicing should be carried out by qualified personnel. Subtle variations and traces of hand craftsmanship form an intentional part of the character and authenticity of each piece.
