The Daphna Pendant draws its inspiration from the geometric language of Moorish and Andalusian architecture, reinterpreting traditional forms through Yahya's distinctive approach to handcrafted metalwork and illumination. Entirely hand-sawn and hand-engraved, the pendant is composed of eight faceted sections that expand gently outward as they descend, creating a sculptural architectural volume of remarkable elegance and balance. Beneath this faceted upper body, a hemispherical dome completes the composition, softening the geometry and establishing a harmonious dialogue between angular and curved forms.
The ornamentation is executed using Yahya's signature layered floral language, where larger motifs establish the primary visual rhythm whilst finer details gradually reveal themselves upon closer inspection. Each element is individually crafted, assembled, welded, and finished by hand, concealing the complexity of its construction beneath a seamless sculptural surface. Illuminated from within, the pendant projects intricate patterns of light and shadow that animate surrounding walls, ceilings, and architectural surfaces.
Suspended from a decorative chain and ceiling plate, the Daphna Pendant combines the architectural presence of a lantern with the refinement of a sculptural artwork. The pendant is suspended from a structural ceiling fixation plate concealed behind a decorative ceiling canopy. The electrical connections, transformers, and drivers are housed within the upper structure, allowing convenient access for maintenance whilst remaining completely hidden from view.
The composition incorporates eight hand-sawn and hand-engraved rounded vertical sections arranged around a central body and framed by sculptural teardrop domes above and below. A concealed diffuser system integrated within the central section softens the illumination and prevents direct visibility of the light sources whilst enhancing the richness of the decorative metalwork. Access to the lighting systems is provided through concealed fixing systems integrated within the decorative structure, allowing straightforward maintenance and lamp replacement.
The lighting system incorporates three independent light sources. The first illuminates the upper dome, projecting decorative floral patterns onto ceilings and surrounding architectural surfaces. The second illuminates the main body of the pendant through the concealed diffuser system, creating a balanced and comfortable ambient glow. The third illuminates the lower dome, creating additional decorative projection and reinforcing the sculptural presence of the piece. The Andalus Pendant is available in multiple standard sizes, with bespoke dimensions available upon request. Exterior versions may also be specified with IP67-rated electrical components and specialist UV-resistant protective coating systems where required.
The brass with aged bronze finish or polished nickel silver surfaces should be lightly dusted using a soft dry cloth or microfibre cloth. Abrasive products, aggressive cleaning materials, and excessive moisture should be avoided in order to preserve the integrity of the finish.
The concealed diffuser elements should be cleaned periodically using a soft lint-free cloth and a suitable non-abrasive cleaner appropriate to the diffuser material. Care should be taken not to apply excessive pressure to the decorative metalwork during cleaning or maintenance operations.
Our brass pieces are hand-finished, aged to a rich bronze patination, and protected with a durable lacquer system. Interior versions utilise a specialist interior lacquer, whilst exterior versions receive a UV-resistant protective coating developed specifically for outdoor environments. Polished nickel silver may be maintained using a quality silver polish or traditional lemon-based cleaning methods where required. Subtle variations and traces of hand craftsmanship form an intentional part of the character and authenticity of each piece.
