The Glass Disc Dome Pendant is a highly sophisticated architectural lighting design that combines hand-blown glass, hand-sawn metalwork, and multiple layers of concealed illumination within a single sculptural composition. The pendant is formed around a softly curved frosted glass dome suspended beneath a hand-sawn and hand-engraved floral metal band, creating a refined balance between transparency, ornament, and light. Above, a large frosted glass disc crowns the composition, introducing a sense of lightness and visual calm. Hidden within the upper structure, a concealed hand-sawn decorative disc projects intricate floral patterns onto the ceiling, creating an additional architectural layer that is perceived through light rather than form. Combining ambient illumination, decorative projection, and illuminated glass, the Glass Disc Dome Pendant creates a rich and atmospheric presence whilst maintaining a remarkably clean and contemporary silhouette. The pendant is suspended from a structural ceiling fixation plate concealed behind a decorative ceiling canopy. The electrical connections, transformers, and drivers are housed within the upper structure, allowing convenient access for maintenance whilst remaining completely hidden from view.
The composition incorporates a hand-blown frosted glass dome positioned beneath a hand-sawn and hand-engraved floral metal band, crowned by a large frosted glass disc. Hidden within the upper section is a concealed hand-sawn decorative disc designed specifically to project floral patterns onto the ceiling without being directly visible from below. Access to the lighting systems is provided through concealed fixing systems integrated within the upper decorative structure, allowing straightforward maintenance and lamp replacement.
The lighting system incorporates four independent light sources. The first illuminates the lower frosted glass dome, creating a soft and comfortable ambient glow. The second illuminates the hand-sawn floral metal band, enhancing the decorative metalwork and projecting subtle patterns onto surrounding architectural surfaces. The third illuminates the upper frosted glass disc through concealed edge-lighting systems, allowing the glass itself to become a luminous architectural element. The fourth illuminates the concealed hand-sawn decorative disc positioned above the pendant, projecting intricate floral patterns onto the ceiling and creating a secondary architectural layer of light. The Glass Disc Dome Pendant is available in multiple standard sizes, with bespoke dimensions available upon request. Exterior versions may also be specified with IP67-rated electrical components and specialist UV-resistant protective coating systems where required.
The brass with aged bronze finish or polished nickel silver surfaces should be lightly dusted using a soft dry cloth or microfibre cloth. Abrasive products, aggressive cleaning materials, and excessive moisture should be avoided in order to preserve the integrity of the finish.
The hand-blown frosted glass dome and frosted glass disc should be cleaned periodically using a soft lint-free cloth and a suitable non-abrasive glass cleaner. Care should be taken to avoid contact between aggressive cleaning products and adjacent metal finishes. Abrasive pads, polishing compounds, or products that may alter the frosted surface should never be used on the glass.
Our brass pieces are hand-finished, aged to a rich bronze patination, and protected with a durable lacquer system. Interior versions utilise a specialist interior lacquer, whilst exterior versions receive a UV-resistant protective coating developed specifically for outdoor environments. Polished nickel silver may be maintained using a quality silver polish or traditional lemon-based cleaning methods where required. Subtle variations and traces of hand craftsmanship form an intentional part of the character and authenticity of each piece.
