Occassional Table N°1

Ref: F-OT-001

Occasional Table No. 1 is a sculptural reinterpretation of the classic octagonal side tables associated with the golden age of Islamic art and architecture. Executed entirely in intricately hand-sawn and hand-engraved metalwork, the composition is defined by its architectural octagonal geometry, extraordinary ornamental refinement, and remarkable handcrafted precision. Each surface is pierced and engraved with delicate floral compositions that allow light and shadow to interact across the structure, reinforcing the sculptural depth and intricacy of the piece. The table may optionally receive a removable glass top while preserving the purity and visibility of the ornamental metalwork beneath. Both historic and contemporary in spirit, the piece transforms a traditional architectural typology into a highly refined modern sculptural object. Over time, it has become one of Yahya’s most iconic and widely recognised creations.

Brass, Aged Bronze Finish.

Nickel Silver, Polished Finish.

330 x 330 x 540 (h) mm

The table is constructed entirely from handcrafted structural metalwork executed in either brass with aged bronze finish or polished nickel silver. The octagonal composition is formed from intricately hand-sawn and engraved panels assembled into a rigid architectural structure designed to preserve both sculptural lightness and structural stability. A removable glass top may optionally be installed while allowing the ornamental metalwork beneath to remain fully visible.

The engraved brass with aged bronze finish or polished nickel silver surfaces should be lightly dusted using a soft dry cloth or microfibre cloth. Abrasive products, excessive moisture, or aggressive cleaning materials should be avoided in order to preserve the integrity of the engraved metal finish and protective treatments.

Where a glass top is installed, it should be cleaned carefully using appropriate non-abrasive glass-cleaning products applied to a soft cloth rather than sprayed directly onto the piece. Due to the entirely handmade nature of the work, subtle artisanal irregularities, variations, and traces of hand craftsmanship form an intentional part of the character and authenticity of each piece.
